[01] Productivity
[02] Throughput
[03] Workflow
Align staffing models to maximize departmental throughput and clinical output. True productivity begins with matching the right providers to patient demand. Physician and nursing coverage should reflect actual arrival patterns, acuity distribution, and peak volume windows rather than historical habit or administrative convenience. The link between physician and nursing staffing is often underappreciated. Misalignment of shifts produces the same bottlenecks as being short a team member. When the team is aligned to demand, the department moves. Patients are seen faster, safer, and with less friction for the entire care team.
High-impact strategies designed to streamline patient flow from triage to disposition, focusing on reducing wait times and boarding. Effective throughput is not a single intervention. It is a coordinated system where triage decisions, bed placement, laboratory turnaround, and radiology workflows move in sequence rather than in isolation. When imaging and lab results become rate-limiting steps, the entire department backs up regardless of how well the clinical team is performing. We identify the specific friction points in your patient movement cycle and design targeted solutions that connect the emergency department to its diagnostic partners, reducing unnecessary delays and keeping patients moving toward a decision.
Expert design of clinical workflows for new emergency department infrastructure projects, ensuring operational viability and safety. Whether opening a new emergency department, expanding an existing footprint, or deploying a new service line such as an ED observation unit, the workflow architecture built at the outset determines how well the space performs for years to come. New infrastructure creates a rare opportunity to design patient movement, staffing models, and care pathways from the ground up rather than working around legacy constraints. We partner with clinical and operational leadership early in the process, translating physical space and service scope into workflows that are practical, scalable, and ready to perform on day one.
Leadership Coaching
Leadership Development for New Emergency Department Leaders - Stepping into a medical director or nurse manager role for the first time is demanding. I provide structured coaching to build the foundational skills, confidence, and leadership identity needed to succeed early.
Coaching for Experienced Leaders - Seasoned emergency department leaders face evolving pressures that require new approaches. I help experienced directors and managers adapt, sharpen their leadership edge, and lead with renewed clarity.
Coaching for Teams - The relationship between a medical director and nurse manager shapes the culture and performance of the entire department. I offer coaching designed for leadership pairs and teams, building communication, shared accountability, and a unified approach to leading together.
Executive Coaching for Hospital Leaders - CEOs, COOs, CNOs, and other key hospital leaders without an emergency medicine background often inherit responsibility for one of the most complex departments in the hospital. I build practical ED operational understanding, equipping executives to lead confidently, communicate effectively with their board, and make informed decisions.
Leadership Development is not one size fits all - I offer focused short-term coaching for specific transitions or challenges and ongoing partnerships for leaders who want sustained growth and accountability over time.
About Me
Dr. Ryan Green
DO, MBA | Founder & Principal Consultant
With over a decade of emergency medicine experience, I have had the privilege of leading and working within some of the most complex and rewarding environments in acute care. As a medical director at an academic tertiary care center, I have developed a deep understanding of the operational, clinical, and leadership challenges that define high-stakes emergency departments. My experience spans academic medical centers, community emergency departments, and freestanding emergency departments, giving me a practical perspective on how different environments require different solutions.
Throughout my career I have worked at the intersection of clinical operations and organizational leadership. I have collaborated on the design and launch of a freestanding emergency department, the development of an ED observation unit, and the creation of clinical workflows that informed leadership decision-making for a multimillion dollar emergency department expansion. These experiences shaped my belief that the best outcomes happen when clinical expertise and operational strategy are built together from the start — and that the right guidance at the right moment can transform how a department performs and how a leader grows.
